Southern California has the best weather. Ventura County is the best part of California to have outdoor weddings. Ventura County is blessed with the best wedding photography weather. I've been living in Camarillo, Ventura County, since 1999 and I love Ventura County. Since my relocation to Ventura County, I stopped taking pictures of musicians in Hollywood and started to do wedding and Quinceañera (Quinceanera) photography in Ventura County (also in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara)

Mostly I do weddings. I hope to do more Quinceanera (Quinceañera), Gay Wedding photography, and gala events. Now that Gay Marriage ruling is lifted, I hope to photograph some gay weddings soon.

There are a lot of good wedding photographers in Ventura County. Most California wedding photographers can produce quality wedding albums. If I had (a lot of) money, I would hire $5,000.00 wedding photographer for my own wedding. But, with my 2 college degrees and a primary employment, I still find $5,000.00 wedding photography too expensive.

The industry wants us to believe that wedding photography has to be expensive. Many of us believe that we are obligated to purchase thousand dollar wedding album.

I believe there should be cheaper wedding photographers in Ventura County. There is a demand for good budget photographers. Some people don't want to purchase thousand dollar leather albums. Somebody has to accommodate normal people like us. That's where I come in. I am proud to call myself a "Budget Photographer for normal folks "

I use professional photography equipment at the weddings. I produce good photographs. I keep wedding photography price low because I do not sell leather albums. By not selling leather albums, I am saving 20~30 hours of labor.

I went to Simi Valley today to give wedding album to the customer.  The bride and groom just bought a house in Simi Valley, and they were unpacking. The bride and I set on the family room carpet, surrounded by boxes, and we looked through the wedding pictures.

Then we came across this picture below.  "Nice hair" I said.  Then she explained that she used a hair extension.  "I highly recommend hair extension to any brides at the wedding" she added.

So, I thought I pass that news to all the brides who's getting married.

John did a fantastic job captuuring all of the highlights of our day. From the very beginning, months and months before our wedding, we were always able to count on him. He was very attentive to any and all concerns prior to, during and after the wedding. John was alway quick to respond to my many emails along the way. He was easy to work with and comfortable to be around. He was very understanding when I showed up to the church almost an hour after I had told him to start. Some of our guests even mentioned to us that he was "always there, but never in the way" -exactly what you want form a photographer. All of out photos were outstanding!! I know they could not have been any better if we had chosen a photographer charging double, or more!

Happy 4th everyone.

It started out little gloomy in Camarillo.  But it's clear now.  I hope I can see the firework from home.  There will be fireworks at Adolfo Camarillo High School tonight.

I have a wedding (web) album to finish by this weekend.  There are about1000 wedding pictures to retouch next 3 days.  So, I will enjoy the day off by catching up on wedding pictures.  I try to finish web wedding album as soon as possible.  The newlyweds are waiting...

I have a big dinner coming up (baby back ribs, steak, potato salad, etc...).

We have a very cool Roller Derby league in Ventura County.  I was invited to photograph Bomb Squads on their intraleague Championship.

The event took place in Ventura Fairground on January 15, 2011.  Web album was completed the next day.   I would like to take this chance to inform you that I can do sports photography anywhere in Ventura County.  Check out my web album.  There are 200+ images.

It's been raining a lot in Ventura County.

There was a short moment when It was raining hard in Camarillo, but the Sun was out.  Then I saw this beautiful double rainbow over Camarillo Plumbing (at Old Town Camarillo).

So, I ran out of my car with an umbrella.  Pictures like this is possible because I was using a cheap point and shoot camera.  I don't think I would sacrifice my professional camera to take pictures in the rain (for fun).  I keep my work cameras away from moist as much as possible.

Sometimes I use professional cameras in full rain without an umbrella.  But that's when I photograph a wedding.

It was early morning 4th of July 2010 at Valencia (1am).

Valencia to Camarillo is roughly 1 hour drive (ZZzz...).

I stopped at red light before I got on the freeway.

I saw Magic Mountain sign and quickly got my camera out.  I had time for just these 2 images.
Before taking these pictures, I set exposure compensation at -1 step (shoot darker - to compensate for dark sky & bright signs).

There was a car behind me, so I had to hurry and get on the freeway.

It was a long drive back to Camarillo.

Wedding Season Started

My first wedding of the year 2006 was at Santa Paula on February 25 2006. Santa Paula is quickly becoming one of my favorite cities.

Today's Wedding Photography Schedule
Photography before ceremony - 5:00pm
Ceremony - 6:30pm Wedgewood
Formal Picture Photography - 7:00pm Wedgewood

It was a Friday wedding. I had to get off work early.

We were losing Sunlight fast. (ceremony started 6:30pm)
During the ceremony, I had to use flashes on almost every single shot. By the time we were ready for formal pictures, we really started to lose light.

My light-meter reading was 1/60 second at f4 I had to use a tripod, flash, and cable release.

By the time we started to take formal pictures, we almost didn't have natural night. I couldn't spare a minute. I kept telling them "I'm sorry about rushing you", and I directed everyone like a plane was going down. They all understood why I had to rush them. I managed to get all the pictures done before it was too dark.

The reception was nice. It was a good wedding.
I shot 9 rolls of film. (9 x 36 = 324 images).

Wedding at Santa Paula / Piru / Fillmore

There was 20% chance of rain. It actually rained a little, but it never rained when we needed to be outside. I tell ya, when I go out for a wedding, it *almost* never rains. I have had many occasions where I drove through the rain to wedding sites and ended up shooting beautiful outdoor wedding photographs without getting wet.
People should hire me for the good luck I have with rain. :)

This was my 5th time coming to Poinsettia Pavilion for photography job. I am getting to know faces there. I can honestly say this wedding was a success. People clearly had a good time with fantastic food & entertainment.

I shot 8 rolls of film (8x36 = 288 images).

Wedding Locations In Oxnard

* Bard Mansion (Oxnard): Bard Mansion is located inside of the Naval Base. This is a hidden part of Oxnard. Surrounding the mansion doesn't look anything like a millinery base. What you will get is the most exclusive (gated and guarded) community that Oxnard can offer. This is may be the most quietest parts of Oxnard to have a wedding.

I had two wedding photography jobs at Bard Mansion. The building is perfect for weddings. They have a grassy area for outdoor wedding ceremony. Also, there is a big dining area for indoor wedding ceremony and reception. Brides can use the second floor room to get ready. Food there is high class. When having an outdoor wedding ceremony, there will be no distracting sounds coming from anywhere.

Bard Mansion is for both wedding ceremony and reception. It provides good setup for wedding photographers.

River Ridge Gold Club (Oxnard): River Ridge is a very popular wedding spot in Oxnard. It's also a high class golf course in Oxnard. I took some of the best wedding photographs from River Ridge of Oxnard. The place is ideal for outdoor wedding ceremony and indoor dining. Photography sessions can be held on the golf course and around the ponds. It provides good setup for wedding photographers.
