4 family portrait photography jobs in Ventura County

Happy holidays everyone.  And a happy new year too.

Samples from 4 family photography jobs in December 2009

December is time when a lot of families get together to celebrate and share love.  People take a lot of photographs to capture the magic moment.  Also, a lot of people would hire professional photographer  for professional quality family portraits.

I had 4 family portrait photography jobs in December.

  • The first family portrait session took place at a big house in Ojai.  A large family gathered to celebrate Christmas.  They had a huge living room that could easily fit 17 family members for studio style photography session.  Than we moved outside for small, individual family portrait session. After photoshoot I ate tamales along with the family members.  On my way out, they gave me a big pumpkin pie to take home.  Oh, they didn't have to give me anything...  anyway I enjoyed the pie at home.
  • The next family I visited was in Camarillo.  They also had a large family.  This time, the customer focused mainly on studio style photographs with background.  They needed studio photographs to complete their family photo album project.  We photographed one small family at a time.  At the end, the entire family went out to the front lawn for the biggest family portrait - there were over 30 family members in that family portrait.
  • Then I went back to Ojai and setup another mini studio in the living room.
  • The last event was a surprise party in formal setting.  Friends and family gathered for a short hours.  They had cocktails, dinner, and music.  The gentleman arranged the surprise party for his wife.  We were at Ventura Marriott Hotel in Las Brisas Room I.  I had two wedding receptions in this room before.

Invited to 4 customers' holiday parties

I thought I was going to be home alone for this holiday season.  I even made turkey & ham for myself and ate them alone.  Then I started to receive emails from my past customers.  It was like I was in one of those Christmas movies.  I was invited to total 4 holiday parties from past wedding customers (by 3 different customers).

I had the first taste of eggnog.

2 Weddings in December 2009

I had 2 wedding photography jobs in December, 2009

The last wedding of the year was memorable.  It was a Latter Day Saints (LDS, Mormon) wedding on Wednesday morning.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints hast the holiest wedding ceremony.  Photography is never allowed inside the Church.

I waited outside until the bride and groom to walk out from the church.  There were a group of friends and relatives outside as well.  Oh, and it was raining very lightly.

Wedding pictures at the reception

I had a special assignment for this wedding.  After formal photoshoot in West Hollywood, I was to print one 8x10 & one 5x7 and bring them to reception in Camarillo.  I drove very carefully in the rain and got the prints done fast.  Pictures were delivered on time (pictures above), and reception went on as planned.

I had a super busy December 2009.  I was busy half way into January so I could push out all the pictures to my customers.  I didn't get a decent sleep in the entire month.  (I am not complaining, busy is good).  I was constantly working during the holiday season, including Christmas and New Years day.  I truly enjoyed December 2009, because I was invited to so many parties from my past wedding customers.  It was a rewarding feeling.  I felt like I was doing something right.

Happy new year. See you next year. Smile
